Urban suits are a new phenomenon that is catching on quickly among consumers. These suits have a unique style that is drastically different from the classic contemporary styles you find in older models.

I wrote this article to give the average consumer as much information on the subject of urban suits as possible. It is my goal to enlighten the reader on the differences and similarities of urban and non urban wear. Following this I will tell you what brands are popular and where to get them.

Urban suits almost always come with the same basic mechanics of a formal suit. This suit will have buttons, lapels, pockets, and even shoulder padding. However, what defines the urban suit is how these parts are styled and laid out.

Differences to be explored are the characteristics used for each part of the suit. These suits are always more streamlined. Look for aggressive angles, softer shoulder pads, and an overall less bulky appearance.

Buyers looking for a well defined urban suit need to look for smaller lapels, slit pockets and shoulders that fit tighter to the skin. These models should have matching pants with a flat front face and a cuff less bottom.

Major brands carrying these types of suits include: Sean John, Tommy Hilfiger, Perry Ellis, and Steve Harvey. Stay away from vintage brands like Botany 500 or older designer models such as Pronto Uomo.

These suits are harder to find at the retail level because they are not carried in many rural and suburban areas. Look to find this type of suit in larger cities like New York or Philadelphia. Otherwise you should check out the many different online vendors for some great bargains.

I hope this article has given you some insight as to what an urban suit is and what it is not. My hope is that you will now have a much easier time deciding what suit to buy and where to buy it.
